Dear Visitors,
Welcome to Owl Tipi!
Harley and Monika Zephier proudly present their
unique works of art.
Harley is Mdewakanton Dakota, and Mnicoujou Lakota, and creates authentic, museum quality
Dakota/Lakota traditional art, and innovative contemporary artwork, prepared by hand in cultural fashion. As an
artist, he has his own, unique style. His inspiration comes from wisdom and knowledge of his ancestors.
Monika is Swiss. She developed her own style of artwork and craftswomanship here in America. Artistry
and quality are the top characters in each of her pieces. Her specialties are hand made bone jewelry, earth
pigment paintings, dolls, sculptures, just to name a few. Monika's creativity finds expression in various natural
materials, like bone, horn, antler, hide, stone and wood. All natural mediums are carefully
collected by both of us, here on the prairie, where we live. On occasion we tan deer and buffalo hides.
We use them in our creations. Monika knows where to find a variety of colored earths and clays, and processes them into
paints.
It is a great pleasure for us, to do many pieces of our artwork the old, traditional way. Works
are one-of-a-kind, signed, and dated by the artist.
Custom orders on special request are welcome. Send us an
e-mail, and share your ideas. We look forward to hearing from you.
